Design thinking in context: F-10 infographic
This topic is not covered in Foundation Year. In Years 1-2, the poster demonstrates how you can introduce the foundations of design thinking by guiding students to investigate and evaluate familiar digital solutions. At this stage, the emphasis is on understanding the needs of known users, which lays the groundwork for future learning. This focus will prepare students for subsequent years, where they will create user stories and define problems, enhancing their ability to empathise with users and generate designs that can be implemented as effective solutions.
Design thinking can be used from Year band 3-4 to use as an approach to solve a design challenge. The posters from Year band 3-4 to Year band 9-10 demonstrates how to use an authentic context to design, implement and evaluate a solution. It shows how design thinking can be applied to the processes and productions skills in the Australian Curriculum: Technologies.
These infographics are designed to assist in the interpretation of the Australian Curriculum V9.
Download and use these A3 posters in planning sessions and use them to view the progression of this core concept across Year bands.
