ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Anna Kinnane:

Anna is primarily an educator and currently Project Manager at the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT). She’s passionate about sharing her knowledge and expertise in ICT with pre-service teachers, experienced teachers, academics and members of the wider education community.
One of Anna’s significant contributions to increasing the digital literacy of teachers was as a writer for the Australian Digital Technologies curriculum. Anna brought her considerable knowledge and skills to this role – garnered through 30 years’ experience as a classroom teacher and Head of Curriculum. 
Having started her career as a teacher in the early 80s, Anna has witnessed great changes in the way digital technologies can be used in education. She uses her personal learning journey to motivate and support teachers and educators to embrace digital technologies and understand the profound effect they can have on learning.  She cites online collaboration and communication ‘anytime, anywhere’ as one of the great benefits of digital technologies.  

Bruce Fuda:

Bruce has been teaching in ACT secondary schools for over ten years after some time working as a web developer and network administrator at the Australian National University. During this time, his emphasis has been on developing the understanding of computer science and programming capabilities of students in years 5-12 using a range of programming tools and learning approaches. He was a member of the Advisory Group for the development of the Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies and has been involved in projects across multiple Australian jurisdictions developing teacher capability and lesson resources to support the implementation of the curriculum.
Bruce is an Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Certified Innovator and was recently named the 2016 ACCE / ACS ICT Educator of the Year. He is currently the President of Information Technology Educators ACT, and the Director of Technologies at Gungahlin College. He believes that the skills and knowledge that you develop through an understanding of the digital technologies are the modern equivalent of magic, and wants to see all students have the opportunity to become masters of this mystical art.

Chris Harte:

Chris is passionate about providing professional learning which models great pedagogy, is personalised to the people and the context, is rich in technology and deep in thinking. After 15 years in many different roles as an award winning languages teacher, a senior leader in one of the UK’s most innovative schools, Director of the Emerging Sciences Victoria and his role as a Google Certified Innovator and member of the Google for Education International Advisory Board, Chris has taken on the challenge of starting up his own consultancy; Unstuck Learning Design. Chris has expertise in design thinking, digital technology and learning spaces (both physical and virtual), learner centred pedagogy and learning models, strategies to enhance higher order thinking, learner efficacy and engagement, formative assessment strategies and learning analytics, leadership of learning organisations and language learning pedagogy.  

David Grover:

David has established a reputation for his expertise in secondary computing education. He has been recognised by awards of a National Excellence in Teaching Award, a Regional Award for Excellence in Secondary Teaching and a NSW Premier’s Scholarship where he researched New and Emerging Technologies around the globe. He was Head Teacher of Computing at Chatswood High School for many years and is the author of a number of popular computing texts and computing resources for education. David has been a long time workshop presenter for ICTENSW (the professional body for teachers of computing in NSW) and Macquarie University’s ICT Innovation Centre. He was a senior marker for HSC computing over many years and has a lengthy involvement in the training of pre service teachers of IT/computing at a number of institutions. He is a teacher mentor with The University of Sydney's STEM Academy. His students’ digital works have won a number of Adobe creative awards and have been selected as exemplars. Many of David’s students enjoy successful careers in programming, animation, games design, robotics and other digital media fields.  

Laura Barker:

Laura Barker is currently the Technology and Learning Co-ordinator K - 12 at Fintona Girls' School as well as a specialist teacher in Digital Technologies at the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority. Laura has been actively involved in ICT and Digital Technology education for a number of years.  In 2010 she successfully completed her Masters by research, examining gender and engagement in ICT. During 2014, Laura was involved in the 'Bridging the Gap: From ICT to DigiTech' program which provided feedback on and developed resources for the Victoria Digital Technologies Curriculum.  Laura regularly presents at conferences, workshops and seminars across Australia about various topics pertinent to technology and education. Laura has more than 8 years' experience with ICT in Education Victoria, now Digital Learning and Teaching Victoria (DLTV), most recently as their Vice President.  She has also been a board member on the Australia Council for Computers in Education.  

Mark Richardson:

Mark Richardson is a primary teacher, curriculum writer, professional learning organiser and presenter. His expertise is in technology integration in schools and developing learning communities around Digital Technologies curriculum implementation. He was Professional Learning Manager at Digital Learning and Teaching Victoria, where he planned and moderated a series of webinars which unpacked the key aspects of the Digital Technologies curriculum and offered teachers [F-10], a series of starting points, planning tools and networking opportunities.

Matthew Vines:

Matthew Vines is year 5 coordinator and ICT coordinator at Red Hill Consolidated School. He currently works as a consultant for Education Services Australia on the Digital Technologies Hub. Matthew has previously held the position of an acting Education Improvement Leader in the capacity of running Digital Technologies Curriculum workshops across the South Eastern Region of Victoria. Furthermore, he has written for Education Technology Solutions on matters of innovative use of technology in classroom contexts. Matthew holds a Masters of Teaching from the University of Melbourne, and has a passionate interest in technology in education.

Mel Cashen:

Mel is an Australian educator passionate about contemporary learning and students centred learning and uses technology to develop global connections, collaborate and create. Mel has taught in primary schools in regional Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne as well as London. She has also worked at Monash University as an educational designer supporting academics in improving learning and teaching.
Mel is implementing the new Digital Technologies Curriculum in her school and has presented at conferences across Australia about her Systems Thinking approach to the new curriculum and sharing experiences from her school.
As President of Digital Learning and Teaching Victoria, Mel works towards creating new professional learning opportunities for teachers which reflect contemporary learning and teaching pedagogies.

Rebecca Martin:

Rebecca Martin has worked in primary school education for over 7 years. She has worked closely with Deakin University as part of the ‘Serious Play’ project, which ignited her passion and interest in digital technologies. Rebecca has extensive knowledge in selecting and integrating digital games across all curriculum areas, in addition to helping students collaborate together to create their own digital games.
During her time in the junior years she assessed the educational benefit of certain applications and created a blog to help other staff and schools make informed choices when using handheld devices. Now a Grade 5/6 teacher and ICT coordinator at Fitzroy North Primary School, Rebecca helps coordinate, sequence and integrate digital technologies across the curriculum and school and delivers professional development to other schools looking to integrate digital technologies into their school.
