Assessing students with disabilities

Abilities Based Learning and Education Support (ABLES) is an online system that allows teachers to assess students’ capabilities in several learning areas, including:

  • English: Speaking and listening
  • English: Reading and writing
  • Personal and social capability
  • Mathematics
  • Movement
  • Digital literacy
  • Critical and creative thinking.

These assessments create reports that link to the curriculum, provide teaching strategies, and can show historical data to map students’ progress over time.

Most teachers in Victoria and Western Australia have access to free online professional development for ABLES.
